The George Washington Parkway, is my favorite slow drive, south from Alexandria to Mount Vernon along the river.

Wednesday Weather in Alexandria

If you don't like the weather, wait a couple of hours.  It was raining at midnight, snowing in the morning, ice in the early afternoon, and raining again by evening.

Midway between King Street Station and the end of the line at Huntington, Eisenhower Avenue is an easily overlooked metro station.

Winter Colors

Alexandria is a moderate climate, we have a fair number of days well below freezing and an average of about 10 inches of snow in a winter.  All the same, greenery and red berries are still out in the dead of winter.
